ELEMENTAL

ELEMENTAL is not a succession of works, but a shared territory where matter becomes language and contemplation becomes an act. The series is conceived as a living organism, a space that reminds us that the human and the natural are not separate worlds, but dimensions that breathe in unison. Taken as a whole, the project invites the viewer to return to the essential, to recognize themselves as part of a larger cycle in constant transformation.

In this experience, the minimal acquires universal resonance, and the ephemeral is revealed as eternal. ELEMENTAL thus stands as a bridge between the tangible and the invisible, between who we are and who we forget to be. As Georgia O’Keeffe wrote: “If you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment.” That moment is what here expands into an invitation to inhabit the present with the fullness of the elemental.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

The creative process of ELEMENTAL begins with the collection and arrangement of natural pigments, observed in their purest state and organized on neutral surfaces to study how they breathe, vibrate, and interact with one another. From this minimal setting, a medium-format camera is used to delve into the texture and depth of the matter, revealing what is imperceptible to the naked eye. Post-production is intentionally restrained, prioritizing the authenticity of the captured material. Finally, the works are produced in large format, with the intention that the viewer not only observes, but immerses themselves in the experience, transforming the space into one of contemplation and presence. habitar el presente con la plenitud de lo elemental.

ABOUT

Daniela Garza Montemayor is a photographer and visual artist from Monterrey, Mexico. Her work explores the intersection of nature, matter, and human experience, with the purpose of building bridges between the outer world and the inner universes within us.

Throughout her creative journey, she has forged an intimate and sensorial visual language, where mixed media becomes a medium to awaken contemplation and presence. Her images are reflections that invite us to pause, breathe, and feel—also serving as a therapeutic process of expression.

With a profound sensitivity toward the earth and art as a vehicle for introspection, Daniela creates from a place of inner connection, allowing each work to emerge with authenticity, serenity, and resonance.

My work is born from contemplation and a deep desire for connection. In each portrait I seek to reveal the essence that lives behind a look, and in each artistic project I explore the dialogue between the human and the natural. The camera becomes a bridge between the outside world and the inner universe, a space where matter, light and presence meet.

Each image is a ritual of calm and authenticity, an invitation to stop, recognize ourselves and remember that, like the earth, we are part of a whole in constant transformation.
